Over the last couple of weeks, I've gotten to know the members of Psalms of Silence pretty well and I think all of you need to do the same! Hailing from Wheeling, WV, this metal band has been working their tails off at so many things all for their fans.

I decided to interview them that way new fans could get to know them a little better and see how they truly are. I can honestly say this was one of the more fun interviews because even though they are all grown men, they are the biggest goofballs. Here's the story behind Psalms of Silence.

Band Members:

Dave White: Lead guitarist/Back up vocalist

Tony Matthaei: Rhythm guitarist

John Ribel: Drummer

Ben McElroy: Lead vocalist

Psalms of Silence started out in 2011. They were together for one year before they were lucky enough to pick up their last remaining puzzle piece, Tony.

Psalms gave their biggest thanks to Nathan Kepner, Johnny Bess, and Keith Wright for all the help they put into getting them the line-up they have today.

Some of their biggest influences are: Coheed and Cambria, Pantera, Black Label Society, and Iron Maiden, among many other bands with a heavy groove and progressive style.

I had asked them for the new fans if they could come up with three bands that they sound similar too. They replied with Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, and Iron Maiden. So, if you like any of those bands, you will most definitely love them.

Psalms' plans for the rest of 2017 is to play as many shows as possible so they can let new and old fans hear what they've got.

We had some pretty funny questions in this interview that I had asked them individually. Just by having a conversation with them you can tell that aside from being musicians, they are quite the comedians as well.

"Ben have you ever ruined friendships because of a game of Monopoly?"

"I almost ruined my marriage in a game of Monopoly. Needless to say, we do not play Monopoly in this house anymore."

"John, why are tennis balls fuzzy?"

"Tennis balls have fuzz on them to help regulate their bounce, give them a surface to grip when bouncing...I mean, it's because they wait until leprechauns reach the stage of maturity that they begin to grow hair on their balls, at which point they're cut off as a sign of maturity. Thankfully the leading researcher in Irish beer, "Professor Seamus McGreenbeer", had the ingenious idea to fund his research by inventing the "Irish ball" which was Americanized to "tennis ball."

"Dave, if you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why?"

"I would be Cream of Wheat because like myself, it's hot, it will fill you up and leave you satisfied."

"Tony, if you could sit under a table and listen any two people talk, who would it be?"

"If I could sit undr a table and listen to anybody talk, it would be Trump having phone sex with Putin so I could Facebook live that shit. While that would be hilarious, the Brits already have the tape."

Guys, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. They are hysterical! After the goofy questions were over, I had ask them if they had any advice to give to someone forming their own band.

"You really need to love what you're doing because there will be a lot of sacrifices made, but at the end of the day, those sacrifices are worth it. When you're in a band and it no longer becomes fun, that's when you need to back out and try a new musical journey. Just play the music you love and the people will follow."

Psalms of Silence is such a great group of guys and their fan base is one of the most loyal that I have seen. I'm incredibly proud of them for doing what they love, not only for themselves, but to put on a kickass show for their fans.
