Hailing out of the Pittsburgh Music Scene, Transcendence is kicking ass and taking names.
Having their new line-up for about 2 years now, the chemistry between these guys is something I have never seen before. With Darrin Johns on vocals and guitar, Andy Rarick on bass, Jon Noro on guitar, and Tom Borza on the drums, these guys are an absolute powerhouse of a band.
I've personally been following them for a little over two years and their stage performance and music is always progressing. I can honestly say they NEVER disappoint.
I was able to interview these guys and I couldn't have been more honored that they let me do so. Considering they have been in the scene for a while with a very unique name, I had asked them where it actually came from. They told me that coming out of a few bad situations, it was a way to come out with a fresh start and better themselves. Everytime I talk to these guys, it's definitely noticeable. They are always, always, always working!
Having influences like The Gaslight Anthem, Rise Against, A Day to Remember, and many others, the music that they put out has to be on point no matter what, and I can totally say it is. If you haven't checked these guys out yet, they have their brand new single, "Never Back Down" available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, and BandCamp.
Surrounding themselves with the most supporting people, making the moves to be as successful as they possibly can be and just getting out there and wanting to play shows as much as possible, these guys truly are an inspiration. Not only are they hard workers but they are absolute goofballs as well. They always keep you guessing on what they're going to do next or what the hell is going to fly out of their mouths. Perfect example of my recent discoveries, Andy actually has a crush on Baby Spice from the Spice Girls. Then again, who doesn't? It wasn't much of a surprise to me about the Baby Spice thing, but what the actual surprise was that Tom has a crush on the Backstreet Boys! The guilty pleasures these guys have are out of this world and the only brave one was Jon, saying that none of his pleasures are guilty.
All though they loved Alter Bar, which is permanently closed in the Pittsburgh area, they also love Diesel, Sidebar, Mr. Smalls, and Stage AE. So hopefully here within your near future, you'll be able to see Transcendence kill it at one of their favorite venues. You never know, with all the work they've been putting in, they might be coming to a town near you this year or the many years to come! Just know that if you do have the chance to go see them, DO NOT PASS IT UP! You will regret it for the rest of your lives!
I absolutely love these guys with my whole heart and to be able to call them my brothers, it's something I can't even describe. They are so supportive for anyone and everyone that supports them and I couldn't ask for a better group to be behind me as much as I'm behind them. They love hearing from fans as well so if you have a Facebook, reach out to them. If you're at one of the shows, don't hesitate to go over to the merch table and strike up a conversation. The energy that these guys have will actually put you in a better mood, regardless of the matter.
Transcendence, I love you and I can't wait to see all of the hardwork pay off! I can't wait to see all of the incredible things that are in your future and I promise, this is NOT the last interview with them.
For now, keep rockin guys.
