Storm Dragon

Ranging around the Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia area, Storm Dragon is starting to make a name or themselves.

With having influences like Dio, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Metallica, you can only imagine how incredible their sound is. I reached out to these guys this summer for an interview to get the fans to know a little more about the band.

Since they have a very unique name, I was intrigued on where it came from. This was the best response I've ever heard for where a band name came from.

"When you hear the name Storm Dragon, it immediately elicits an emotional response in people that include feelings of power and intensity, magic and chaos, fear and awe. The imagery that comes to mind is of a gigantic, powerful creature, a dragon, that draws its energy from and thrives in the incredible power of nature's storms. Lightning and thunder, speed and swift attack descending from above, are the kinds of things envisioned. This is a good way to describe our particular style and brand of heavy metal."

The members of Storm Dragon work so well together and that's not something you get immediately unless it's just natural flow. I had to know how these guys met to create such a great band together.

Jeff: "Joey and I met years ago when I was working in an auto repair shop. By some twist of fate, we connected on music and struck up a friendship. Years passed, and we lost contact for quite some time. Eventually, the stars aligned, albeit in tumultuous fashion, and the band that is Storm Dragon ceased to be idea and became form."

Jon: "Jack, Eric an myself were all tracked down by ads looking for members and we all auditioned and were hooked."

When I found out that there was only one immediate friendship and everyone else was found through ads, I couldn't believe it! With the way these guys work together in such and organic way, it blew my mind.

Since they are in such a big area, there had to be other locals that they would love to play with. A few of the mentions were; Alter the Design, Silk9, Defy the Tide, Dr. Smoke, and Vermithrax.

Of course, if anyone knows me and my interviews, I always ask the most insanely random questions. These guys are such great sports and I knew they would answer the ones I had asked.

"If you could be any animal in the world, who would you be and why?"

Joe: "A hawk because it would be awesome to soar through the sky."

I totally agree with that.

"You're a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?"

Eric: "Dragon's fire orange, because dragons are bad ass, and every little kid needs this color to draw their dragons burning up a city."

Well, this is totally true because any kids that love dragons, before or after hearing about Storm Dragon would need it.

"On average, how many times a week do you hurt yourself trying to dance in the shower?"

Jeff was the brave soul that answered with, "42 times". Man, I want to help you and get you some dance lessons! I hope it starts subsiding and you do a little bit of a safer dance!

"Who's your favorite promoter?"

Jon: "Smash Attack and Drusky Entertainment."

Of course I'm going to ask who they're favorite promoter is because if it isn't me, I wanna meet new people that do what I do!

Last but not least, I asked one of my favorite questions to ask any man.

"Who's your favorite Spice Girl?"

Jack: "All of them! Just kidding, strict metal head here!"

Those will always be some of my favorite questions to ask and I am so happy they were able to give me some awesome answers.

I look forward to seeing Storm Dragon get out there and play a bunch of shows and continue making a name for themselves. They deserve everything!
