North of Eden

Coming out of Portland, Maine with a different sound, I give you North of Eden!

North of Eden is a post-hardcore, metal and synth-wave band and I couldn't be any happier to get to know these guys! They definitely have a different sound to them but they are so awesome!

Not only do they have awesome music, but their name is cool too! It's mostly based around Steinbeck's novel "East of Eden' and they wanted it to be based off of having heavenly qualities while being of textbook divine stature.

Having various influences for each other the members, I can see why and how they have the sound that they do. Tyler's influences being; Artists like Architects, The Afterimage, Erra, Veil of Maya and Periphery really drive my guitar playing and vocal style. I also love composers such as Mick Gordon and David Maxim Micic for key/electronic work. Nick's influences being; The Devil Wears Prada, The Faceless, Tool, Between The Buried And Me, Frank Ocean, Veil of Maya, Tyler The Creator, Architects and more. In terms of drumming, I quite admire Giuseppe Capolupo, Alex Rudinger, Matt Gartska, Blake Richardson, JP Bouvet, Chris Coleman, Eric Moore, etc. Outside of music, I read quite often and find myself inspired by it. Stephen King, Harper Lee, Cormac McCarthy, Mike Hranica, Jason Reynolds, and most poetry deeply captivate me.

So not only do we have music influences but author influences too. I thought that was incredible because a lot of artists don't include those.

North of Eden's favorite things about being on stage is seeing people they're sharing their music with and the reactions of people hearing them for the first time. This makes me wish they could've seen my face the first time I heard them because I was absolutely in awe.

Just like all the rest of us, these guys have some guilty pleasures as well. Tyler's are You Me At Sex, Earl Sweatshirt, Asking Alexandria, Rascal Flatts, Nickelback, and Volumes. Nick's guilty pleasures are, The Weeknd, The Faceless, Tyler the Creator, and Rich Chigga.

Both of them agree that they'd love to play with The Devil Wears Prada and I really hope I get to see North of Eden on tour with them some time in the near future. These guys are such hard workers and it would make so many people happy to see them succeed.

Tyler and Nick both have some really great advice for anyone that would like to start playing and here it is.

Tyler: "It is going to take time to master your skill, a lot of people are going discourage you, rock music won’t bring you overnight success or money. Just keep at it and enjoy every moment because you never know when your run will end."

Nick: "Do it."

Lucky for us, they do have a full-length album in the works and it's almost completely done! "Nightwalker" and "No Angels" are the first two singles released from it so far and they are available anywhere and everywhere! Stay up to date with them and listen for the new album!

To you, North of Eden. I want to tell you that I truly love what you do and it's one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time. You are an inspiration to me and many others because you do have a different sound and you aren't scared to show it. I can't wait to hear the new album and I can't wait to see you on tour with The Devil Wears Prada! Keep rockin'!
