Comin out swingin from Fort Collins, Colorado, 13 Nails is a band you want to keep your eyes and ears open for!
Previously sharing the stage with DOPE, Saving Abel, Michale Graves (formerly of The Misfits), Texas Hippie Coalition, and John 5, this hard rock band isn't stopping just there. They're currently writing their second album and planning for a tour in October 2017.
Johnny and I had been talking and he decided to get the band an interview. Let me be the first to say, I'm truly impressed. With having influences such as Rob Zombie, Motörhead, Alice Cooper and many others, they have pretty big shoes to fill and they do just that.
Growing up in the same small town, Johnny, Grey and Joshenstein decided to move to Colorado. As they were still missing one piece of the puzzle, they were lucky enough to find Dr. Mark who had come all the way from Florida.
They decided to pick a name from something that they have love for it. Johnny loves "Friday the 13th" and decided to piece it together with the good old phrase, "final nail in the coffin."
I always ask about the song writing process because there are so many different ways. 13 Nails said that it depends on what they're trying to write. Sometimes they have jam sessions and sometime Joshenstein and Johnny already have a skeleton of a song ready for rehearsal. In other words, these guys NEVER quit working on their music even when they're away from practice.
The advice that they had given for someone trying to start a band was actually perfect. They said to get along with everyone in the band and be a team!
Not too many people in life today can see that you really can't go anywhere by yourself when it come to the scene. You always have to make sacrifices, good or bad, and you always have to have each other's backs. This is why 13 Nails is truly an inspiration on and off the stage!
I'd like to take this moment and thank everyone in 13 Nails for doing this interview with me! It was great to get to know the ins and outs of the band and I am really looking forward to working with them again soon in the future!
