Coming out of Pittsburgh, Pa with a pretty loud bang, The Substance is a group that you definitely want to watch out for. I have talked to these guys countless times and they have big plans for their future.
Having influences that range from Motley Crue to Nevermore, how could they not have high hopes for The Substance. This is one of the main reasons I wanted to interview them. A group of incredibly talented guys just trying to make it to the top with some of the best attitudes.
The name "The Substance" all came to them because their music has substance. On The Substance's Facebook page, they wrote, "Music for people who love music." That's the realest thing they could've ever wrote. No matter what type of music you like, they can accommodate for it.
Growing up together and going to school together, they have created some beautiful things. Not to mention how well every member flows together with every creation they come up with.
The best part of The Substance is that they don't sound like anyone else! Yes, they have influences and you can tell but this band has such a unique style of how they write their music and how they perform it for all of us to see. Having James and Jake writing a majority of their music definitely explains a lot. The writing talent that comes out of them is like something I've never seen before.
I had asked them what bands they would like to play with and their top answers were Winter's Descent and Dofka. Unless of course it's a show opener. They said they would love to open up for Metallica so they could show them how it's done.
These guys and their dedication is terrific! You should really check them out because they are one title in the list of underdogs that are going to make a name for themselves!
I look forward to seeing what they bring in the next couple of months and of course the next couple of years. I also look forward to keeping in contact with them as much as possible. Another great band that turns fans into friends.
Thank you to The Substance for giving me such a great opportunity to interview you! Keep rockin' guys!
